The staff is EXTREMELY helpful and the store is oh so shabby chic. Everything is good quality stuff and well priced. «You are the first person that has used that!!! I’m so happy!!» HUH!!! WAHOOO! So needless to say. We walked up to the register and handed the owner the jeans and I smiled and showed her my % 10 check in discount and SHE SQUEALED. Hubs was like «are you serious?! » Oh yes… I don’t play when it comes to discounts. Oh but not so fast… since I checked in… I received a 10% discount just for checking in. I giggled and just said «try it on before you pee in your pants» He tried it on and they fit. Then… like a light from heaven shone down from above… he spotted a True Religion tag… he slowly pulled it out and his mouth hit the floor. Skeptical Hubs slowly walked the store… then his pace started to pick up… then his face lit up with a «hey…this sweater is only $ 30?!» I grin and say nothing. Before I could put my hand on the doorknob, the front door flew open and we were greeted with a « HELLO AND COME IN». Even if he didn’t find a pair, I knew that he would see that this place had to potential to eventually have a pair. I’ve NEVER been, and he’s definitely never been, but I just KNEW from some of the reviews I’ve read that this place wouldn’t disappoint. While casually shopping in Dilworth for myself with Hubs by my side, he briefly mentioned that he wished he could buy a pair of True Religions at a decent price. SCORE!!! Today I proved to dear Hubs that Unilocal and Unilocaling in general is awesome and benefits from «checking in» (which sometimes irritates him when he’s with me) will pay off. Dealing with this store was just an unpleasant experience and certainly not worth it. In the future I will just give my clothes to goodwill or people in need. At one point she yelled, «This is my business, and I will run it the way I want to!» But then she went into her back room and came back with 2 of my original items. When I finally went in to pick up my stuff and final check, the owner told me that she had gotten rid of my stuff 2 weeks earlier… She was very rude when I questioned her business practices. I don’t know what retail management system she is using, but it seems like it’s from the 80s… Makes no sense. When I tried to call in over the course of the 4 months I had my stuff on consignment, the owner would tell me to call back each time after the 15 th of the following month. When you try to drop off clothes, the owner tells you that she is busy and you will need to make an appointment… Even though the store has been empty every time I’ve been there. If they sell something of yours you can’t get paid until after the 15 th of the following month. The process of getting your proceeds from the store is done on a monthly cycle.
Or she may not, you really have no idea what will happen once you drop off your stuff. The owner will take your stuff to goodwill after 90 days without even calling you. I dropped off expensive items that were apparently sold for 10− 20% of their retail value. You have no idea what price the owner will sell your stuff for.
